The Twin Otter first flew in May 1965. 115 units of the Series 100 were produced, after which it was replaced by the Series 200 – with a longer nose. The aircraft takes off and lands on very short runways and is used in both civilian and military roles. The Twin Otter uses PT6A engines with 652 horsepower and can carry a 2.6-ton load.
